A project in two phases. The first was a 24-hour livestream, inviting 24 sound artists and groups to live-mix, augment and manipulate sounds created by Plas Bodfa a currently empty manor house in North Wales. Each hour was recorded and unleashed into the world as source material for an open call for new audio compositions. Documentation of my 1 hour contribution can be found here. Phase 2 was the culmination of all these creative efforts, a collection of works reimagining ways that sound can connect people to place, illuminating minute details of specific location through a unique audio experience. 44 artists contributed to two albums, creatives from Wales, UK, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, The Channel Islands, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Turkey and the United States. My intention was to sketch a sonic portrait of a so-called empty site and to foreground the rich, near forgotten histories of this, and many other, derelict buildings throughout North Wales. A post-industrial archeo-acoustic rummage through the latent narratives of place. A sound artist's entanglement with site, space, history and community as remediated with the glittering tools that litter the bright labyrinth of our digital regime. My piece (sainsŵn - Ar Hollol Dawelwch / On the Plenitude of Silence) can be found here
